FAQ – ULTRASONIC CAVITATION & RADIO FREQUENCY
Neither Ultrasonic Cavitation nor Radio Frequency are intended as general weight-loss treatments. Instead, they are designed for targeted body sculpting, circumferential centimetre loss, and skin tightening.
Cavitation specifically breaks down stubborn, localised pockets of subcutaneous fat that often resist diet and exercise, whilst Radio Frequency stimulates collagen and elastin to tighten and firm lax tissue. While you will likely notice a reduction in measurements and a more toned contour, overall weight loss depends on your diet, metabolism, and lifestyle.
Having Ultrasonic Cavitation or Radio Frequency on the abdominal area during your period is not recommended.
The heat generated by Radio Frequency and the deep acoustic sound waves from Cavitation increase local blood circulation and stimulate internal tissue. Treating the abdomen whilst menstruating can lead to significantly heavier bleeding, increased cramping, and general discomfort.
However, it is perfectly safe to treat areas away from the abdomen during your cycle—such as the thighs, arms, or back. If you are having your stomach treated, we advise scheduling your appointment once your bleeding has completely stopped.
We recommend waiting at least 3 months following a natural delivery, and at least 6 months following a Caesarean section before starting Ultrasonic Cavitation or Radio Frequency on the abdomen.
This waiting period allows internal tissues, abdominal muscles, and scar tissue to heal fully. In all instances, you must have attended your 6–8 week GP postnatal check and received medical clearance before proceeding with body contouring or skin-tightening treatments.
Breastfeeding considerations:
Ultrasonic Cavitation cannot be performed whilst breastfeeding. When cavitation breaks down fat cells, fatty acids and glycerol enter the bloodstream and lymphatic system prior to natural elimination, which is not recommended during lactation.
Radio Frequency can be performed whilst breastfeeding, provided the chest and breast tissue are completely avoided. RF works primarily by gently heating the dermal layer to stimulate collagen rather than releasing broken-down fat into the circulation, making it a suitable option for skin tightening on areas such as the abdomen, thighs, or arms once you have passed the post-birth healing period.
It depends on the type of coil you have fitted:
Hormonal Coils (e.g. Mirena, Kyleena): These are made of medical-grade plastic and contain no metal. Both Ultrasonic Cavitation and Radio Frequency can safely be performed over the abdomen.
Copper Coils (Non-Hormonal): Because copper coils contain conductive metal, Radio Frequency cannot be applied directly over the lower abdomen, as the thermal energy interacts with metal. Cavitation may be used with caution, or we can simply focus treatments on alternative areas such as the thighs, flanks, buttocks, or upper arms.
We recommend you have a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 treatments before having a break of 4 weeks to allow your body to recover. You should allow 72 hours between treatments
No for Cavitation, Yes for Radio Frequency. Ultrasonic Cavitation is strictly designed for fleshy, localized fat deposits on the body (such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, buttocks, and upper arms). It can never be used on the face, neck, chest, or over bony areas due to the depth of the ultrasound waves.
However, Radio Frequency can safely be used on both the face, neck, and body. In fact, our machine utilizes specialized 3-prong, 4-prong, and 6-prong RF handpieces specifically designed to gently heat dermal tissue up to 40°C, stimulating collagen production and tightening skin on both the face and body without affecting underlying bone or delicate structures.
While they work brilliantly together, they target two different layers of tissue:
Ultrasonic Cavitation (30k/20k): Uses low-frequency sound waves to disrupt and liquefy stubborn subcutaneous fat cell membranes, allowing the contents to be flushed out via the lymphatic system.
Radio Frequency (RF): Uses controlled thermal energy (reaching therapeutic levels of 40°C in seconds) to heat the collagen fibres in the dermis. This causes immediate tissue contraction and stimulates long-term collagen and elastin synthesis, firming slack or loose skin following fat reduction.
Drink at least 1.5 to 2 litres of water prior to and daily after your session. Because cavitation breaks down lipids into fatty acids that your lymphatic system must process and eliminate, staying thoroughly hydrated and taking a brisk 20–30 minute walk post-treatment dramatically speeds up clearance. Avoid caffeine and alcohol for 48 hours post-treatment so your liver can focus entirely on clearing the released fats.
Many clients notice an immediate tightening effect or a minor reduction in measurements straight after their first session due to the instant collagen contraction triggered by Radio Frequency thermal energy.
However, the primary inch loss from Ultrasonic Cavitation develops progressively over 72 hours to 2 weeks. Your lymphatic system requires time to naturally metabolise and excrete the disrupted fat cells, with cumulative improvements continuing throughout your full course of treatments.
Yes. The fat cell disruption achieved through Ultrasonic Cavitation is permanent. The acoustic sound waves permanently break down the fat cell membranes, causing the cells to be cleared naturally by the body so they cannot return.
Radio Frequency simultaneously tightens the overlying skin to prevent laxity. However, remaining fat cells in untreated areas – and any residual cells in the treated zone – can still expand if you consume excess calories. Maintaining a balanced diet and active routine will ensure your results remain permanent.
A typical appointment lasts between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area being addressed.
This allows dedicated time for consultation, taking baseline measurements, performing the Ultrasonic Cavitation application to break down fat, and completing the Radio Frequency phase to firm and tone the skin.
No resting is required. Both Ultrasonic Cavitation and Radio Frequency are completely non-invasive treatments with zero downtime, meaning you can return to your normal daily routine, work, or driving immediately.
In fact, resting is discouraged straight after a session. We recommend a brisk 20–30 minute walk or light cardiovascular exercise within a few hours of treatment to stimulate your circulation and encourage your lymphatic system to eliminate the newly released fatty acids.
Clients must be at least 18 years of age to receive treatments.
There is no upper age limit, provided you are in good general health and do not have medical contraindications such as a pacemaker or internal defibrillator, active liver or kidney conditions, severe cardiovascular disease, or metal implants in the targeted treatment zone.
To protect your health and maximise results, we strictly treat only one major body area per session (for example, the abdomen, or both thighs).
Ultrasonic Cavitation releases significant amounts of glycerol and free fatty acids into the bloodstream and lymphatic pathways. Treating multiple large body areas at the same time can overload your liver and lymphatic system, leading to sluggish results and physical fatigue. If you wish to target multiple body areas, appointments must be staggered at least 3 to 4 days apart.
Please do not worry if changes are not immediately obvious. Whilst some individuals experience immediate centimetre loss, every body processes broken-down lipids at a different metabolic rate.
For many clients, the lymphatic drainage process takes several days to gain momentum. Full structural collagen remodelling from Radio Frequency also takes weeks to build in the dermis. Consistently drinking plenty of water, staying lightly active, and adhering to your post-treatment guidance will support your body in delivering visible progress.
Hydration: Drink at least 2 litres of water daily, starting the day before your appointment and continuing throughout your course. Hydration is vital for your lymphatic system to flush out metabolised fats.
Movement: Take a brisk 20–30 minute walk or engage in light exercise within 4 to 6 hours of your appointment to burn released fatty acids as fuel.
Avoid Alcohol & Caffeine: Refrain from alcohol for 48 hours post-treatment, and minimise caffeine. Alcohol places strain on your liver, preventing it from prioritising the clearance of fat cells.
Dietary Choices: Minimise refined carbohydrates, sugary foods, and heavy saturated fats on treatment days to prevent your body from immediately storing fresh dietary fat whilst processing released lipids.
