E-Light combines IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) technology with Bipolar Radio Frequency for improved results in a number of aesthetic treatments.
First the IPL energy is used to preheat the target area which creates a thermal path for the RF (radio frequency) energy to travel.
Then the electromagnetic energy RF is delivered directly to the hair follicle or targeted vascular and pigmented lesions. E-light is also a
fast, safe and highly effective method of reducing unwanted red veins caused by swollen or damaged blood vessels. The E-light delivers pulses
of light energy that cause the blood within the vein to coagulate eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body.
The blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skins surface where it should be. E-light produces 3 times more efficiency
compared to traditional IPL. Skin rejuvenation using E-light is rapidly becoming recognized as a fast, safe and highly effective method of
reducing unwanted pigmentation and improving the tone of the skin without suffering painful side effects. This treatment is highly effective
and the client can return to normal day-to-day activities immediately following the treatment.
Skin rejuvenation is the treatment of sun damaged skin. It is used to boost the complexion, even out the skin tone, tighten pores, smooth and plump out the skin texture and give a collagen boost within the skin. Skin rejuvenation is an excellent treatment to reverse the signs of ageing.
Pigmentation therapy is the treatment of skin that has an uneven skin tone due to age spots, sun spots and hyper pigmentation. This treatment fades and removes the excess pigmentation restoring the skin to an even clearer tone. It will also refresh the complexion as well as giving a collagen boost within the skin.
Fine line therapy is a treatment of the skin to give the maximum collagen boost to push out fine lines.
Acne/rosacea – the light targets the acnes bacteria in the skin. A photodynamic reaction occurs, which performs a selective destruction of the acnes themselves. With successive treatments the rate of acne destruction can become greater than the growth of the bacteria leading to a reduction in the inflamed lesions and can prevent further traumatic scarring. The light is absorbed into the blood vessels which supply the sebaceous glands. By heating up the capillaries this will reduce the blood flow to the sebaceous glands and decrease the over-production of oil in the skin.
Thread vein – the light targets chromophore oxy-haemoglobin in the blood. As the light is absorbed by the blood in the vessels a heat reaction is caused which coagulates the blood and destroys protein in the wall of the vessel. The vessel then breaks down and the debris is removed by the body’s natural waste disposal system which helps improve the appearance of the thread vein.
Do not to smoke 4 hours before and after treatment.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What are the advantages of E light?
- - E-Light has all the main advantages of light and laser based devices
- - Higher total combined energy can be delivered without the risk of epidermal damage

How many session of Skin Rejuvenation, Fine Line therapy, Pigmentation therapy, Acne/rosacea or thread vein reduction are needed?
On average between 1-6 session at 3-4 weeks intervals are needed for the best results. Top up treatments may be needed in future to maintain these results.
Can I be treated?
As skin rejuvenation is based on light absorption in melanin and haemoglobin, treatments are most efficient in people with light skin who are not sun-tanned at the time of the treatment. The lighter the skin, the more pronounced the contrast between the age spots/blood vessels and the skin, making treatment easier. Darker skins cannot be treated. However, the system used has pre-programmed settings for different skin colours that deliver the correct energy output for your complexion.
How does the treatment feel?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable, no anaesthesia is required though and most people describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable, not unlike a quick pin prick.
Are there any side effects?
The skin may be quite red and slightly swollen after treatment but this usually subsides quickly. Very rarely a small blister may form and there can be a temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. However, most people experience no side effects and any skin reaction usually disappears within a few hours. However, in the majority of cases, there are no visible secondary effects. In very rare cases if the precautions are not respected there may be temporary variations to the pigmentation (hypo or hyper pigment).
What should I expect after the treatment?
Redness and a slight warming sensation are normal after a treatment. A Cooling pack can be applied afterwards to calm the skin. Aloe Vera will be applied to the treated area before you leave and can be used for several days after the treatment to help calm, sooth and moisturise. You may see a darkening of any pigmented spots before the flake off, leading to a more even skin tone. Tightening of the skin should increase over the following months as new collagen is produced within the dermis.
How many treatments are necessary?
Generally sun damage can be resolved in just a few visits whilst vascular lesions and wrinkle reduction show significant results following up to six applications. Skin Rejuvenation Treatments are carried out every two to three weeks and six treatments are recommended for best results. Thereafter, top up sessions are performed as required, but typically once or twice a year. With hair reduction treatments E-light only acts on hairs that are in the growth phase, the number of sessions for hair removal depends on the colour of the hair, its location and the length of the hair growth cycle. The area being treated and individual genetic factors also determine the number of treatments required. This is why it is difficult to give an exact number of sessions. However, it is generally accepted that on average six to eight sessions gives good results.
- - Avoid the use of depilatory creams or waxing 2 weeks days prior to the treatment
- - No bleaching of the hairs 3-4 days prior to treatment
- - No sunbathing for 2 weeks before the treatment
- - Shave the area to be treated a day or two days before the treatment
- - Use SPF30+ sun screen daily and avoid any sunbathing for 4 weeks after the treatment
- - No massage on the treated area within 4-5 days
- - Must not press, rub or scratch the treated area
- - Use quality mineral make up and if possible avoid non-mineral makeup for 4 to 5 days following treatment. The skin is very sensitive during this period
- - Take Vitamin C and Vitamin E to help with healing
- - For hair removal, shave the hair between treatments if possible and the day before your next appointment.
How long does the treatment take?
First a full consultation plus an initial patch test must be performed to ensure that no unwanted side effects are likely to occur. A full consultation takes approximately 20 minutes and is free of charge. As long as there are no reasons found to postpone the treatment or not go ahead, a patch test is required. The patch test is £25 and takes approximately 10 minutes to do. The £25 charge will be refunded in the cost of your treatment. Light to fair skin types are required to Wait 72 hours before proceeding with the treatment but darker skin types need to wait 7-14 days as these skin types can have a delayed reaction. The time required to undertake a complete treatment is very short and most treatments only take approximately 15-30mins.
